Teaching in a sectarian school has its benefits. One of which is that you are guided in all your daily routines and lessons. You have to base everything on the Bible/God and you have to observe Christian behavior at all times. Disciplining students are also affected. You have to apply Christlike character in all decisions every now and then and not just what is stated in the handbook. It really sounds hard but at the end of the day you feel that you have made a great job and not feeling that something is missing.
Just last two weeks ago, the school had its Week of Spiritual Refreshing. It is a program where the whole school will pray and go to a hall and sing and worship God. Its aims are clearly seen but it also trains the students in presiding, leading the sing inspiration, share their talents, etc.
This year is somewhat refreshing and different for we see and hear totally young-acts. Yes, the speakers are a few years younger than I and yet they can already do preaching with great mastery to the students. It is my first time to see and hear two speakers sharing their topic at once. It is already hard speaking in-front with all those topics (10 topics) add the fact that they have to see to it that their exchange of words is fluid and continuous. They’re great and I believe there is a great future for them. My students even add that they are also gifted with singing. Actually their whole family came and joined the crusade and they can all sing. It’s really rare to find such these day. Kudos to their parents for training such children.
The speakers together with their family both inspired and challenged our students. One of my students said that it is her first time to feel the presence of a friend (God) in her life and will try to somewhat change her lifestyle.
The said program is indeed something that is really worthy, not just for the students but for the whole school. It brings all of us to a common vision, a common goal and reflect within ourselves what had we been doing. It teaches trust, prayer, love etc. for God.
You might be thinking that what does this post doing here. You are not mistaken and fret not, you will be reading more of this. God Bless.
